Personality: Jovial, quick witted, and sometimes extremely irritating.

Appearance: His hair is graying, and he keeps it cut in a long crew cut that always seems messy and out-of-place. His eyes are the same color as his hair, gray, and he keeps a beard, also grey, that has lead some Engineers to call him pops. He has no fat on his frame whatsoever, and he tends to spend a lot of his free time in the workshop building things, the larger things often without the captain's permission, earning him more than one warning that he has ignored.

Background/History: Born in Scotland, on Earth, he grew up on a farm, always fascinated by the ancient tractor his family used that was from the 21st century. He loved to fiddle with the engine to get it to work better than it did before. When he was of age he enlisted in the UNE Space Fleet and resumed his love of mechanics and engines, jumping ahead of most in his class until he came out number one on graduation day. His record is marred by more than one instance where the captain ignored his suggestion and ended up killing people then blaming it on him, and another few instances where the captain just didn't like him, and requested he be transferred. However, he is the best engineer in the fleet, by universal agreement, thus why he was assigned to Valor. He has a small problem with experimentation though, and built several prototypes the fleet promptly confiscated before reverse engineering it from his crazy works and then adapting it to normal use. As a result, he harbors a deep hate for politics and the stuff that occurs within it and avoids them like the plague. He also keeps several weapons in his quarters, some of his own design, others of designs by the UNE Space Fleet that he improved on. They have proved useful in more than one instance.
