Magic in Overdark is rare to find but wondrous to behold. But it is important to remember that many of the effects of magic can be achieved via technology. However once technology enters the picture it is no longer considered magic.

SCHOOLS OF MAGIC

Psycomancy: Magic of the mind, this is by far the most common type of magic, overtime some species may have manifested the innate ability to use such magic naturally. Powers such as telepathy, telekinesis, clairvoyance, empathy, mind control, illusion generation, etc.

Chronomancy: The rarest type of magic, only used by the ancient race of Temporal (currently extinct) or a Temporal hybrid. It is the magic of time, and includes both the manipulation of and travel through time. Loopwarp orbs are thought to be a viable source of such magic, but as it is a technological device it is not considered magic.

Transmutation: Essentially the act of changing one thing into another. Used to alter the properties and appearance of any material by changing it at the atomic level.

Evocation: Goes by the principle that anything you put into the universe will result in an equal or opposite effect in return. This can be used to achieve a variety of effects, most of which includes the act of summoning another entity to you instantly from another part of the universe.

Psionics: The magic of oneself, calls upon the internal forces within yourself. This mysterious force goes by many names, chi, mana, soul, etc. This force can be called upon through discipline of the mind and can be used to manipulate, control and generate energy of all kinds.

Kyromancy: The magic of darkness, includes the manipulation, control, travel through and generation of dark matter and dark energy. Very lethal if used for a dark purpose.

Cosmancy: The manipulation, control and generation of matter at the atomic level. Can be used to both create and destroy matter. This school of magic is extremely powerful and is only learned by the most powerful magic users in the universe.

Eomancy: The control of the flow of life itself. Can be used to both heal, kill and resurrect. It is very difficult to learn as this magic draws upon your own life force to heal another and absorbs another persons life force to kill. By sacrificing yourself you can resurrect another person.
